Galileo colt, The Equator (IRE), will be having his first South African run in the Grade 3 Magical Zulu Kingdom 2200 at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Durban July day – Saturday 5 July. Warren Kennedy takes the ride.
Well-performed up to 2800m in the UK and Ireland, The Equator was purchased by Willem Ackerman in partnership with Heversham’s Advocate Nigel Riley in the UK in late October and went into quarantine. After being released from quarantine, he arrived at Heversham in mid-February, where he was acclimatised and did some light trotting. He went into full training at Tony Peter’s yard on 28 March, where he has made good progress and has put up some eye-catching work.
The Equator travelled to Durban early on Friday morning and has arrived in very good shape. “He travelled well, arrived on Friday and his work at home has been impressive. He can definitely be in the money,’ said Marc Peter, assistant to trainer Tony Peter.
