WINGS of Desire (GB), our former resident stallion, now deceased, sired his first winner when home-bred Racinante (ex Paxmak), won a Maiden Plate over 2000m on the Polytrack at Fairview on Monday, 26 June.
Three-year-old Racinante is owned and trained by Juan Nel, who said: “She stays well, I don’t want to race her over less than 2000m and we’ll try and win one more with her.”
Wings Of Desire, by Pivotal, suffered a lack of support from breeders and sired only two small crops, from which he had seven runners, for a winner and two placed horses. There are a few dozen more from his next crops on the farm, some of them from good quality mares (including Zirconeum) and a handful will be sold at the BSA August Two-Year-Old Sale.
Watch this space for more information. It so often happens that, when an under-rated stallion dies, his progeny starts to win all over. Don’t let the opportuntity to acquire a rare foal by this superbly bred stallion pass you by.
