The South African Miniature Horse website describes these cute little things as “striking, small, well balanced horses that, if all reference to size were eliminated, would have the same conformational proportions of other full sized light breeds. The mares demonstrate refinement and feminine qualities. The mature stallions show boldness and masculinity.”
We brought to to miniature horses, or ponies if you wish, to Heversham for the Highveld Horse Care Unit and Kat Riley told: “They were well looked after at the Unit, but needed a permament home. Their names are Matha and Bullseye, and they are like loving ornaments on the farm. They have their own stable, their own campo by day and they get taken for walks every day.”
Martha and Bullseye are about seven years old. They can live into the high 20s.
