Trainer Glen Kotzen believed he’d bought a bargain when he paid R60,000 for Heversham Park-bred Scent Of A Woman at the 2020 National Two-Year-Old Sale and he was right.
The filly by Vercingetorix from Scented East pulled hard and faded in her first few starts, but, raced from off the pace on the Polytrack at Greyville on Tuesday, she put her rivals to bed by more than two lengths with a strong late run from the widest of draws. Apprentice Thabiso Gumede did the duties.
Assistant trainer John Bucker commented: “She’s actually a very nice filly. She pulled too hard in her first races and could not finish off, but we did a lot of work with her at home, thanks to Khanye Sakayi for that, and she enjoyed the Polytrack.”
Scent Of A Woman was our sixth graduate to win this season. Thanks Candiese Lenferna for photos.
