We were very fond of Snow Dragon when we she was raised here at Heversham Park, an attractive daughter of Act Of War and Paxmak , with her grey coat and dark mane, and we were pleased to see her win her Maiden in a 1250m race at Durbanville on Wednesday.
This was Snow Dragon’s fifth run, they’ve all been decent, and she’s earned over R42,000, recovering her purchase price of R30,000, a bargain selected by trainer Paddy Kruyer.
Jockey Anthony Andrews said: “She was gutsy. That Richard Fourie’s horse flew up on her outside helped her to get her head down on the line.”
Kruyer praised Andrews for a good ride and said that part-owners Frank Sharp and Margaret O’Hara were unable to make it to the track. Snow Dragon was led in by Marthilde Braxmeier, the third partner, who enthused, “That was never-wrecking!”
Snow Dragon has a beautiful half-sister, sired by Wings Of Desire, going to the Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale on 1-2 July. She will one of six from the farm, and the only Wings Of Desire on the Sale. See catalogue here: https://bsa.co.za/event/kzn-yearling-sale-7/#/
