Heversham Park’s draft at National 2-y-o Sale

HEVERSHAM Park Farm will be offering a quality draft of 14 lots at this year’s National Year Old Sale.

Arguably the standout presence in this draft, is that the Coolmore based champion and outstanding international sire success Rock Of Gibraltar has two juveniles up for sale –the only two on the 2018 National Two Year Old Sale!

A winner of seven G1 races in a row, Rock Of Gibraltar has more than 100 stakes winners to his credit, including 15 individual G1 winners. His runners have fared particularly well in South Africa, where they include champion Alboran Sea and fellow G1 winners Europa Point and Seventh Rock.

His first offspring on offer at the National Two Year Old Sale is a filly (Lot 53) who is from the same family as G1 winners Agnes World, Dubai Destination and Librettist –as well as Breeders’ Cup Mile winner and WinStar Farm sire Tourist.

Former Cartier Horse Of The Year Rock Of Gibraltar is also represented on the sale by a ¾ brother (Lot 386) to G3 performer Triumphant, with this regally bred colt also related to such notable G1 winners and or sires El Gran Senor, Try My Best, Redoute’s Choice, Northern Guest, Pathfork, Spinning World and Romanised.

G1 winner and top class sire Querari has a colt (Lot 273) whose winning dam is a half-sister to G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Fair Maiden (herself represented at this sale), while Querari’s Equus Champion stablemate Vercingetorix (whose first yearlings made up to R2 200 000) has a colt (Lot 267) from the family of Cape Guineas winner Flight Alert and multiple champion sprinter Senor Santa.

Another popular young sire, and Equus Champion, represented in the Heversham draft is Soft Falling Rain. The latter is responsible for a colt (Lot 172) whose winning dam is a half-sister to Green Point hero Fabiani and to durable Dubai campaigner Star Empire.

Other intriguing lots in this draft include a Crusade colt (Lot 13) whose winning dam is a half-sister to G2 winner Royal Champ, the Judpot half-brother (Lot 118) to KZN Guineas Trial third Draugluin, the Judpot colt from the family of champion Highland Night, and the Time Thief colt (Lot 333) whose second dam won the G3 Natalia Stakes.
