Deal Maker (GB) (by Profitable) posted her first South African win in a handicap over 1000m at the Vaal on 23 December.
The filly was bought at Newmarket, UK in 2024 by Willem Ackerman and Heversham’s Advocate Nigel Riley, alongside The Equator (IRE) and His Majesty (IRE). To round off a good day, Heversham-bred Blindfire finished third and should also pick up another win soon.
Deal Maker was ridden by apprentice Savanna Valjalo, who recommended a tongue tie and ear muffs after riding her in work, and was very pleased that her plan came off.
“Deal Maker was bought for breeding purposes, but she’s a tough filly, now that she has found confidence she can win again,” said trainer Tony Peter.
