Heversham Park’s Elektra Riley achieved a third place in Equitation at last weekend’s SANESA event, where passion, skill, and dedication of young riders were showcased. SANESA promotes all forms of Equestrian sport within South Africa’s schools’ community.
Equitation encompasses a rider’s ability to ride correctly and with effective aids. Judging criteria covers the rider’s performance and control of the horse, use of riding aids, proper attire, correct form, and usually factor in rider poise and the cleanliness and polish of horse, rider and equipment.
Kat Riley said: “Elektra rides Cheyenne, our ‘pink pony’, who came from the Highveld Horse Care Unit. They are made for each other. My heart was in my throat every time she went out and they flew over the jumps!”
