Heversham Park was active at the 2023 Cape Racing Winter Mixed Sale at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Friday, 16 June with the purchasing of 10 lots – comprising eight broodmares and two weanlings.
The arrival of stallion Capetown Noir (Western Winter) marks a time when Heversham is purposely upgrading its broodmare band, and we were at the right place and time. The Cape’s major stud farms Drakenstein and Klawervlei are taking in new fillies off the racetrack which made a number of excellent buys available in their clearing out of older mares. We secured the mares under their value, including daughters of Captain Al, Trippi, Jet Master and Visionare – all in foal.
“We’re boosting our stock with mares of high quality to serve Capetown Noir and our other stallions Jackson and Moofeed,” said Heversham’s Kat Riley.
Below are some of the mares bought:
Lot 100 Lady Of Kildare
Eight-time winner by Captain Al, in foal to Royal Mo.
Lot Royal Pleasure
G3-placed mare by Visionaire, already the dam of four-time winner, Light That Loose. In foal to Querari.
Lot 121 Shatoosh
Listed-placed four-time winner by Trippi, in foal to Futura.
Lot 145 Count To Ten
Listed-placed mare by Count Du Bois, in foal to Twice Over.
